“Warrandyte Yarra River”
Just close to Tills Rd the Yarra River turns to commence its run parallel to the Warrandyte town centre. The river moves away from a billabong it formed previously - not ignoring it completely, but playing it with variations of its own flow as determined by its collaboration with the previous rainfall. At this position the Yarra usually brown in colour reflects blue when the sun shines directly on a strip of its surface. I come here often to look at the river and the surroundings. The thin spindly white gum trees bend in every direction as if to defy gravity deliberately. Their shape and form are typical of the Warrandyte area and here especially display this feature abundantly. The place is for me so artistically satisfying and consoling in the way that can be presented only by nature. A visit during the end of autumn provided an inspiration again to paint the turn of the Yarra River at this location of Warrandyte.
