ARTIST BIO

Born in Melbourne Lyn Sutton grew up and in the bay side suburb of Hampton, and has lived and breathed art for much of her life. On leaving school, Lyn started work at a florist, from which sprung a flourishing career as a floral designer. She trained in several busy and successful shops, later running her own business and earning a considerable standing with-in the industry. Parallel to both her career and raising a family, Lyn always followed other artistic pursuits in her spare time, participating in numerous and varied art and craft work-shops and tutorials; painting became her other passion.

Lyn credits her background in floral design for her sound knowledge of colour, balance, proportion and texture, and believes that painting is a natural progression in satisfying her want to create beauty. Over the years Lyn has been inspired by a multitude of tutors and by painters of every era; including many contemporary and even avant-garde artists, a practice which she still continues.

Now retired, Lyn can dedicate more time to painting regularly and experimenting with different styles and mediums. She is currently enjoying the challenge of painting reflective objects, playing with light and colour balance with stunning results in both pastel and oils.

2016 was a thrilling year for Lyn, winning “Best in Show” at Camberwell Rotary Art Show and Mentone Mordialloc Art Show. Lyn says that these honours have given her reassurance and confidence to continue to explore and develop her own style.
