ARTIST NOTES: The port of Trondheim is on the Trondheim Fjord, in central Norway. Nearf the mouth of the Fjord on the approach northwards to the Arctic Circle is the Kjeungskjær lighthouse, which is central to this scene.
The Kjeungskjær lighthouse (Norwegian: Kjeungskjær fyr) is a North Sea lighthouse in the municipality of Ørland in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway.
Perched on a tiny skerry off Ørlandet, this deep red, octagonal lighthouse shines across a busy shipping lane at Bjungfjord. This distinctive seamark is the Kjeungskjær lighthouse, built in 1880. The 20-metre high structure helps fishermen and sea travellers stay on course as they approach the point where the Trondheim Fjord (Trondheimsfjord) meets the North Sea nearby.
