Bernadette Devlin is an Australian based oil painter with a lifelong passion for art. Working from her studio on the Mornington Peninsula, she draws inspiration from observations of landscape and domestic themes, capturing the beauty around her. Bernadette's background in abstraction and colour theory is evident through compositional balance, expressive techniques and intentional colour pallets, used to create mood atmosphere and narrative. With a strong focus on colour and light the paintings have a joyful, rhythmic feel to them which is as much about the play of space, form and colour on the canvas, as it is about the actual subject matter. Employing techniques such as short dabs of paint and textural expressive brushstrokes, her paintings have a contemporary post-impressionist style. |
