ARTIST BIO

I have been painting all my life and have loved putting colours on different surfaces using all types of medium. I live at Warrandyte North which has a strong Artist community and have lived there for over 20 years.

I love using natural colours because they are so vibrant. I have used Ink, Gouache, Oil Water Colour, Oil pastels and ground rock with different shades of Ochre. I have also completed some seascapes using Oil and Gouache

Many of my works have been created around Alice Springs at Artists camps, specifically Palm Springs, Mpwellare, Running Waters and Finke River, Ruby Gap, Illiara over many   years. All these places are the spiritual home of the Aboriginal people of the area who inhabit the land. I was fortunate to sometimes visit sacred sites with the elders who explained some of the dreamtime stories to me.

My Studio is at Coburg and the studio has other Artists of different Styles. Main Artist is Marcus Wills who has won the Archibald Prize. I have exhibited my paintings at Strathdon, Camberwell, Hobsons bay, Warrandyte, Warranwood, Knox, Mornington, linden Postcard and Bayside Art Shows, Australian Watercolour Muster, Stones of Yarra Glen and many others . These shows have been very successful for me. I was a finalist for the Australian Water Colour Muster. I have had two recent sole exhibitions in Warrandyte Now and Not Yet Gallery. I run workshops on using natural pigments. I was a finalist at

My work continues to be inspired by my love of the bush I believe we need to preserve the bush. I am one of the few artists in Victoria other than indigenous artists using Natural Ochre to pint with. This makes my art unique.

I love being outdoors and especially central australia where I paint in-situ. I also paint in the studio from photos or drawings. My paintings depict the reds, yellows, greens and browns of the dry outback.
